Discombobulated!
'Discombobulated' is the perfect word to describe the wobbly and confused feeling after traveling for over 24 hours and landing in a time zone eight hours ahead.
The travel all went according to plan, but it was a long day. Yes, we could have taken a later flight to Heathrow and had less time waiting for our onward flight, but it would have been a little tight, and we would have just been waiting around at home anyway.
The BA lounge at Heathrow isn't the best by any stretch of the imagination, but it's not a terrible place to spend a few hours, and everything is free!
While in the lounge, we bumped into Lee and Jaine (Quemard), which was nice and we chatted to them for a while before they headed to their flight home.
A few wines were enjoyed in the lounge, but nothing silly, and we boarded on time. The flight was smooth, and both Emily and I slept probably more than we ever have on a long-haul flight, maybe six hours or so, which helped a lot.
Once back on terra firma, we cleared immigration quickly, and there was a sigh of relief when our bags arrived — yay! After some mini confusion (probably due to discombobulatedness!), we managed to locate our driver to take us to our hotel, the Sofitel Damansara.
KL airport is actually a long way outside the city, so the transfer was about an hour and a half, partly because of heavy Friday evening traffic, and it was about 8 PM local time when we got here. It was still around 30 degrees, but it felt comfortable and very pleasant.
Once checked in, and after a quick shower, we headed downstairs for a bite to eat and, of course, were keen for a well-earned drink. There was an evening buffet which had an amazing choice but they didn't serve alcohol in that restaurant, I think the waiter said it was because they were trying to become a halal restaurant (?), so we ate quickly and ran to the bar. It was very nice to unwind from a very long journey, but we both felt like we were still moving, and it was very... discombobulating!
The hotel seems lovely, as is the room, but it was dark, so we don't have our bearings yet. We will have a good look around tomorrow. The hotel is in an outer suburb, a nice area with a couple of shopping malls nearby (oh dear!), but we will need to get a 20-minute cab ride to get to the main center.
No plans at all tomorrow (Saturday). Hopefully, it's nice enough to sit by the pool and just chill for the day. It is definitely warm, but the forecast is mixed. Assuming we have pulled ourselves together after some sleep, we will then plan an outing for Sunday.
That's it for now; all is good, and the trip starts in earnest from tomorrow, we can't wait!
